All the answers to common questions we get asked about our adventure tours. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please contact us.

The Riding

The riding on our tours will range from easy to very difficult. We will be traversing a wide range of terrains from rainforest to sand dunes, beaches and highways to mountain tracks and logging trails. There will also be creek crossings, river crossings and bull dust holes. Almost every day has a different type of landscape and terrain, depending on your tour.

Bond/Deposit

All entrants that utilise a hire bike will be required to supply a deposit of $1500 prior to departure. This amount will be refunded on the safe return of the undamaged hire bike.

Confirmation

Upon confirmation of your booking Ride North will contact you with confirmation of booking, departure location and time, What to bring list and payment details.

Hotel Pickup Service

We offer a pick up service from Cairns CBD if required. Please contact staff for details.

Weather

Far North Queensland has all types of weather, from monsoonal rains to tropical cyclones. Ride North reserves the right to change any tour date, for any reason, at any time without notice.

Prior to departure, all entrants will:
Sign indemnity form

  • Read and sign terms and conditions
  • Sign image and footage waiver
  • Attend rider’s safety brief
  • Provide valid motorcycle license (Motorcycle Tour only – Car License for SSV)
  • Sign full condition report (if using hire bike)
Travel Insurance

All entrants are strongly advised to obtain travel insurance prior to departure. Travel insurance can be obtained by your local travel agent.

Rider Ability

We cater for all levels of rider ability. All riders should have at least some experience with trail riding. Our professional guides are there to help, if you are not sure on a technical section, we will coach you through it.

Bringing Your Own Machine?

All machines should be in excellent mechanical conditions. All machines will be scrutinised at (starting location of each tour) by 8:30am for a full inspection. Wheel bearings, tyre condition, suspension, brakes, engine condition, should all be considered. We highly recommend a full service on your any Tour. On all Cape tours, daily maintenance is advised and will be carried out in a designated area daily adhering to strict environmental policy. Keep in mind this ride is almost 1500 km of harsh terrain, your machine will need to endure an average of 300 km per day; reliability and safety are paramount.

Break Downs And Crash Damage

We have a qualified mechanic on every tour; general breakdowns will be assessed “on track”. If repairs are possible they will be carried out; if repairs are not possible the machine will be towed or carried by support vehicles or sweep riders. If a vehicle is deemed beyond repair through lack of parts or extensive crash damage, it will be transported to the next freight depot and shipped at the owner’s requests and expense.

Accommodation

Our tours are a mixture of accommodation and camping, depending on the tour. Accommodation will range from motel rooms to resort rooms. The camping will be at locations where accommodation is not available. Stretcher beds/Camp cots will be provided. (See image camp cot) Each person is advised to bring their own bed roll to ensure their individual comfort on Cape York tours. Hot showers and toilets will be available at all campsites.

Food/Catering

All meals will be provided. Meals will range from restaurant bistro style meals to open fire or camp oven cooking depending on location. Our aim is that everyone goes to bed with a full stomach and a smile on their face. We also specialize in campfire spit roast, Meat cooked like this with a smoky flavor is amazing!

What To Bring

You will be given a detailed list of what to bring on booking (it will change depending on tour, Climate, weather and machine you will be riding). Please contact our friendly staff if you are unsure of what to bring.

Cancellations And Refunds

Canceling after booking confirmation, but prior to your final payment, your booking deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. If canceling after final payment has been received: More than 45 days prior to departure date – 75% is refunded. Between 45 and 30 days prior to departure date – 25% is refunded. Less than 30 days prior to departure date – No refund. Cancellation will be handled on a “Case-by- Case” basis with empathy. Travel Insurance is strongly recommended.
